Local government offices will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

The Jemison Municipal Complex closed at 11 a.m. on May 24 in observance of the day.

Mayor Eddie Reed said closing early on Friday allowed employees who had travel plans the opportunity to leave earlier. He said it was something the city likes to do for its employees.

City offices will reopen on May 28 at 8 a.m.

Since the city does not have trash pickup on Mondays, the garbage pickup schedule will not be impacted by employees being off.

In Clanton, city offices will be closed on May 27 and open for normal hours on May 28.

City Clerk Debbie Orange said trash pickup would be running early on Monday and asked that city residents have their cans out on Sunday night.

For Maplesville, the trash pickup schedule will run as normal. After being closed on Memorial Day, the town offices will open for normal hours on May 28.

In Thorsby, the governmental offices will have the same schedule as Clanton and Maplesville.

However, trash pickup will be a day behind. Mondays routes will be picked on Tuesday, etc. throughout the week.
