Gary Bates of Creation Ministries International will present scientific evidence for the belief that God created the earth during “Creation Not Confusion” at Mulberry Baptist Church, 12268 County Road 15 in Maplesville, on June 2 at 11a.m.
Mulberry Pastor Andy Mims said this is the first time for the church to host such an event.
“We want our people to hear the truth about Creation … that God spoke it (the world) into existence,” Mims said.
Mims said the event will provide answers to those questions people have about the age of the earth and how it came to be.
“Not just because the Bible says but to see that there is scientific evidence,” Mims said.
The pastor stated that he wanted the community, especially the students, to “hear something besides (Charles) Darwin.”
Bringing in Bates, he said, will give people the benefit of hearing someone who has dedicated 20 years to this field.
According to the Creation Ministries International website, Bates himself once believed the theory of evolution as fact for how the world came to be. However, “the Creation message had a dramatic impact on Gary’s life. He is now a biblical creationist with a heart to communicate this life-changing information to the average ‘person in the street,’” according to a bio on the ministry website.
