Clanton Intermediate School has received $4,700 from a Drive 4 UR School event at Baugh Ford.

The school received funds for each test drive participants completed. An additional $10 was awarded to the school for every test drive of the 2019 Edge.

The event had been held in March.

“This is the second time we have done it,” Principal Louise Pitts said. “We really appreciate what Baugh Ford has done for our school.”

Tommie Baugh of Baugh Ford said several parents and community members came out in support of the event.

“There was a lot of excitement here for the community at Baugh Ford to see the wonderful people that work here,” Baugh said.

The event included a cookout provided by the dealership.

Pitts said the funds will be used for interactive boards for the classrooms.

She said the boards, which resemble a giant flat screen TV, can be used for a variety of academics, including comprehension games.

“It’s a way of sneaking in a little studying and knowledge, and they just think they are having fun,” Pitts said.

Baugh said the company has been hosting these fundraising opportunities, in partnership with the Ford Motor Company, for the past nine years.

In that time, close to $50,000 has been raised for local schools.
