Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Clanton will be hosting its 13th annual Sportsmen’s Spectacular on March 9.

“Our annual Sportsmen’s Spectacular is one of our largest events at Liberty Hill,” said Pastor Kent Dodson. “It is such a great opportunity for us to meet people in our community and get to know each other through shared interests of hunting, fishing and the outdoors.”

The event includes a wild game supper, door prizes, guest speaker Eric Boykin and child-friendly outdoor games and competitions in the Kids Zone, according to a release from the church.

“Local outdoor enthusiasts will spend the afternoon cooking various wild game using Dutch ovens, grills and smokers,” said Kristin Nelson Williams in the release. “In the past, the supper has featured deer, buffalo, bear, squirrel, frog legs, elk and even alligator.

“The dining area is decorated with mounted trophies taken by members of the Chilton County community. Bobcats, fish, deer, snakes and even antelope have been popular mounts in previous years. The Sportsmen’s Spectacular is a free event.”

The Kids Zone activities begin at 3 p.m., with the supper set to start at 5 p.m.

“Kids Zone competitions include archery, casting, BB gun target shooting and others,” Williams said. “First and second place trophies will be awarded for three age groups, sixth grade and under.”

Boykin is the Missional Strategist for the Tuscaloosa County Baptist Association.

“We will also have music performed by Cullman King’s Riders chapter of the CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association),” Williams said. “Throughout the night, drawings will take place for various door prizes. After the supper and the guest speaker, a drawing will take place for a generous grand prize; registrant must be present to win.”

Any groups that plan to attend are asked to please RSVP by calling the church at (205) 755-1694 or sending an email to tina@libertyhillonline.org. For more information about the event, contact Kevin Nelson at (205) 755-9753.
