Local government offices to close for Christmas

Local government offices will be closed for a few days in order to give employees time to enjoy Christmas.

The Chilton County Courthouse will be closed Dec. 24-25.

Clanton

Clanton City Hall will be closed Dec. 21, 24 and 25. Garbage will be picked up each day except on Christmas Day. City Clerk Debbie Orange said city residents are encouraged to put their trash cans out early and leave them at the curb until they are picked up.

For those who had a real Christmas tree this year, trees should be taken to the area designated for pickup in the Winn Dixie parking lot.

The pickup is part of a program offered by the Central Alabama Electric Cooperative and Winn Dixie. The trees are recycled by CAEC and will be picked up through Jan. 3.

Jemison

Jemison City Hall will be close on Dec. 21 at 10:30 a.m., and will be closed Dec. 24 and 25.

“During the Christmas Week and New Year’s week, trash pickup will be Thursday and Friday,” Jemison City Clerk Vicki Potts said. “Our schedule to pick up discarded trees, cut branches etc. is last week of December.”

Maplesville

Maplesville Town Hall will be closed Dec. 24-26. Town Clerk Dawn Smitherman said garbage pickup will run on Christmas Eve, then the usual Thursday route will be picked up on Friday, Dec. 28. The usual Friday route will be picked up on Saturday, Dec. 29.

Thorsby

Thorsby Town Hall will be closed Dec. 24 and 25. Assistant City Clerk Julie Adams said garbage will not be picked up on those days. The usual Monday route will be picked up on Wednesday, Dec. 26 and the usual Tuesday route will be picked up on Thursday, Dec. 27.
