The Humane Society of Chilton County is looking for sponsorships to help them finish the year strong.

In a letter to potential donors, HSCC Board President Lee Helms said the organization “relies heavily on the generosity of individuals and businesses” to remain in operation and care for the dogs and cats that have been left at the shelter.

The shelter has taken in 2,650 animals in the past fiscal year at an average cost of $83 per animal.

“Your tax-deductible donation makes a lasting change in the lives of the animals that walk through our doors every day and is greatly appreciated by the staff and board members,” he said.

A donation of $25 sponsors a heartworm test, flea preventative, de-wormer and vaccines for a dog at the shelter or sponsoring the adoption of 6 months of age or older. A donation of $30 – $50 covers the cost to neuter or spay a cat or dog. A donation of $50 sponsors a dog 6 years of age or older and a kitten up to 5 months old to be adopted.  Donations of $100 or more would help to offset transporting animals to rescue organizations (thus keeping euthanasia rates low), cover the cost of vaccines and to sponsor adoptions.

“We have been very proactive in pursuing our goal to keep our euthanasia rate to the bare minimum, while employing the fewest employees possible, but we cannot do this without your help,” Helms said.

Donations can be made at www.chiltoncountyhumanesociety.org or by mailing a donation to P. O. Box 1716, Clanton, AL 35046.
