Chilton County High School is giving the community the opportunity to see a wider variety of classes in action this year through Open Door Fridays.
CCHS Principal Ron Pinson said when Open Door was held on Wednesday last year, the same classes were featured each month because of the schedule.
The school uses an A/B day and week schedule, meaning different classes are taken on Friday depending on whether it is an A week or a B week.
“Teachers are working really hard and we want to showcase that,” Pinson said.
He commented that he also wanted parents and other members of the community to see how hard the students were working.
A variety of subjects will be represented during the once a month tours. Students lead groups through the school stopping at classrooms to listen and ask questions.
Pinson said he would like to see parents, business leaders and other community members “come see what our wonderful students are doing.”
Last year was the first year for the Open Door program at CCHS.
“Last year, we had tremendous response,” Pinson said.
He said the program helps build relationships with the community and gives parents a better reference point for filling out the annual survey.
No reservations are required. Open Door Fridays are scheduled for Oct. 5, Nov. 2, Dec. 7,
Jan. 11, Feb. 8 and March 1.
Open Door Fridays are 8-9 a.m. each day.
