Linden 32,

Isabella 0

The Mustangs lost their first game of the season to a tough region opponent on the road on Sept. 20.

It was not a typical game for the offense, which was held scoreless by the tenacious Linden defense.

With the loss, Isabella fell to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in region play.

That puts them at equal footing with Maplesville in a tie for second place and a meeting between the two schools scheduled for Oct. 12.

It was the second straight victory over a Chilton County school for Linden, who defeated Maplesville 38-27 a week earlier.

The Mustangs will look to bounce back with a home contest against 2A-title contender Thorsby.

Wadley 54,

Verbena 0

It was a third straight loss to open the season for the Red Devils, and the offense has been shutout in two of the three games.

Wadley is a traditional power and Verbena was missing four starters due to injury in the game.

The contest was the second in a stretch of four consecutive road games with the next one coming against non-region opponent Highland Home on Sept. 28.

Verbena (0-3, 0-2) returns home on Oct. 12 against Notasulga.
