True Hope Baptist Church VBS attendees raised $300 to donate to the Humane Society of Chilton County.

“Their theme for Vacation Bible School was Noah’s Ark, so they wanted to do something with animals,” Karl Smith of True Hope Baptist Church said.

Students in elementary and middle school participated in the VBS.

Smith and some of the students presented the check to the Humane Society on Aug. 25.

This was the church’s first year to hold VBS.

Smith said the project was an opportunity for the students to be “civic minded” and help others.

The Humane Society accepts monetary and supply donations on an ongoing basis. A list of specific needs can be found at chiltoncountyhumanesociety.org.

Donations can be mailed to 139 Shade Tree Drive in Clanton.
