A multiple-vehicle crash just south of Exit 200 on Interstate 65 claimed the life of a Bessemer man, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The crash involved four vehicles and occurred at 3:10 a.m. on Aug. 25 near the 195 mile marker, approximately 15 miles north of Prattville.

“Makeil James Gordon, 19, was killed when the 1999 Infiniti I30 he was driving left the roadway, struck the median and overturned in opposing lanes of travel,” said Corporal Jess Thornton of the Alex City Highway Patrol post of ALEA in a press release.

According to the release, Gordon was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected after his vehicle overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

“The Infiniti was struck by a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 1999 Ford F-150 and a 2010 Chrysler Sebring while overturned in the opposing lanes of travel,” said Thornton in the release.

A passenger traveling in Gordon’s vehicle, as well as the driver and two passengers in the Ford, were transported from the scene with injuries.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the crash, and no further information is available at this time.
