Kelley Farm Supply in Verbena is under new leadership, but remains a family-owned business.

Randell, Wendell and Daniel Kelley are now joint owners of the store on U.S. Highway 31.

Randell Kelley said he is handling the day-to-day operations.

“We are a family operation,” Randell said. “We farm. My brothers and I were raised on a farm.”

No major changes are anticipated.

He said they will “continue to try to give the customers the best service as possible.”

His sister-in-law Sharon Kelley is also on staff.

The store will continue to sell mostly farm supplies with some hardware options.

“I think you get better service from a family-owned business because they are more concerned (about the customer),” Randell said. “Your family-owned business, really and truly, I think is the backbone of the country.”

Feed for various animals from horses to goats is the largest year-round seller for the company.

Working with family has the potential to make thing tense, but Randell said “our family has been fortunate we have never had a problem getting along.”

Collaboration between the brothers is also key to decision making.
