Chilton County United Way is hosting its Ride for the Cause charity fundraiser on Sep. 29.

Williams Transco, Allstate in Jemison and Walmart in Clanton are sponsoring.

This motorcycle ride is their biggest event of the year.

Registration will start at 9 a.m. in front of Highway 31 at Clanton Walmart with donuts and coffee for the riders and a free lunch and armband to a Family Fun Day at Goose Pond Park following the ride.

The cost will be $25 per rider and $10 per passenger. Early registration, which will end Aug. 21, will allow $5 to be knocked off the $25 driver cost. Two or four wheels are all welcome.

A free T-shirt and one ticket for a donation drawing will also be given.

Departure for the ride will be at 10:30 a.m.

The route will start at Walmart and end at Goose Pond Park.

Family Fun Day will consist of hotdogs, hamburgers, cold drinks donated by Coca-Cola, Pies by Mike desserts, Kona Ice, live music, old fashion games such as horse shoes and sack races, face painting, donation drawings, a changing station for elderly/handicapped and babies and BB gun range.

The donation drawings have chances to win tickets to places like the Montgomery Zoo, Birmingham Baron’s or Montgomery Biscuits baseball games and more.

The BB gun range will be provided by Bama Carry, which will instruct participants in gun laws and safety. This would also be a great way for Boy Scouts to earn their badge.

This event will go to support Chilton County United Way reaching its 2019 fundraising goal of $175,000 with 75 percent being allocated to 22 different nonprofit agencies in Chilton County.

Local agencies, such as Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center, Raleigh’s Place, YMCA and Girl and Boy Scouts, will be benefitted.

Chilton County United Way’s goal is to make Chilton County a better place to live and nurture the youth because they are the future.

“We want to help the next generation to be the best they can be and they turn around and become givers when they get older,” said Carol Fortuna, campaign coordinator of Chilton County United Way.
