Nine occupants of a Jemison residence were arrested on July 19 when police located an overdosed individual and multiple illegal drugs on the property.

Jemison Police Department and the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 8:30 p.m. to a report of a man barking like a dog and rolling around on the ground at a County Road 8 address in Jemison, according to a CCSO press release.

“Upon arrival, deputies located a male subject rolling around on the ground (and) barking like a dog in the woods behind a known drug house,” the release reads. “EMS checked the male, and it was determined that he was having a reaction to a drug known as liquid G or GHB (Gamma Hydroxybutyrate, according to drugfree.org).”

The subject was taken into custody. His current condition is unknown.

Assistant Chief Deputy Shane Mayfield of CCSO said several arrests have been made in the past at the address.

Upon search of the residence for any other individuals suffering an overdose, eight more subjects — many of them holding felony warrants — were arrested.

Located on the premises were several illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, marijuana and GHB.

“We have seen a dramatic, recent increase in GHB, AKA ‘Liquid G,’ or more commonly called “water,” Mayfield said. “According to what we are being told, it is extremely addictive and potentially deadly. We are investigating at least one death presently that we believe is linked to using ‘water.’”

“These arrests were made by excellent teamwork from the two agencies,” according to CCSO. “We are in the fight against drugs, day in and day out. In addition to these arrests, there were 11 other unrelated arrests on various charges throughout the entire day on Thursday. Most of all, if you see something, say something!”
