Anna Mims was named the 2018 Little Miss Peach Queen on June 23.

Anna was also the casual wear winner.

“I was so excited,” Anna said of hearing her name called as the winner. “I’m looking forward to making new friends.”

This was Anna’s first time participating in the Peach Pageant.

“I’ve done other pageants, but this is the first time for this one,” Anna said.

The first alternate was Lily Claire Burke. Emery Blackmon was named second alternate. Third alternate was Harper Cleckley. Blair Adams was fourth alternate.

The Little Miss pageant kicks of the annual series of pageants as part of the Clanton Lions Club Peach Festival. This year marks the 71st year for the festival.

Each winner receives a number of prizes provided by local sponsors.

Before the pageant was underway, the Clanton Lions Club took time to present its community service award to Danny and Lisa Hayes of Hayes Drugs and Gifts.

“Over the past 40 years, Danny and Lisa have worked not only with the customers in their store in the community of Jemison, but the community in Chilton County through helping support schools, churches and their fundraisers,” Lion Glenn McGriff said. “They understand the importance of giving back to their community,”

In January 2018, the couple sold Hayes Drugs and Gifts. Danny Hayes continues to work at the store a few days a week.

McGriff said the couple had always supported the Peach Pageant by providing door prizes from Hayes Drugs and Gifts.

Upon accepting the award, Danny Hayes said, “God is good, and he has enabled us to work in the community and with the community, and I give him thanks for that.”

Danny Hayes also thanked the Lions Club for the award and the attendees for supporting the event.
