Cornerstone Fitness & Wellness in Clanton will host its 15th annual Peach Run 5K and 10K June 16 beginning at 7 a.m.

The cost to enter the race is $30 plus a $2.50 registration fee. Online registration is available through midnight on June 14.

Anyone wishing to participate may also register the morning of the race. Both the 5K and 10K races will begin and end at Cornerstone, which is located at 110 Baker Avenue.

Those who register will receive a T-shirt.

“We will have people ready to register runners by 6:15 a.m. the morning of the event,” said Lesia Childress, Cornerstone’s fitness director.

Childress said Cornerstone began hosting the event as a way to kick off the annual Peach Festival festivities.

“We have had as many as 115-150 runners participate before,” she said.

The 5K and 10K races will start at the same time. Those who have registered to compete in the 10K will split off from the 5K runners at the end of that segment.

According to Childress, there is a $100 cash prize for the top overall male and female finisher in both the 5K and 10K races.

The races will be subdivided into different age groups. Participants of any age may enter.

“There will also be prizes for the top overall finishers in each age division,” she said.

“We give out peaches, and we have several door prizes that anyone who registers gets a chance at. Some of them are cash prizes. Several local merchants have donated door prizes.”

According to Childress, Rep. Gary Palmer will be on hand to both visit with anyone wanting to meet him as well as to hand out the door prizes.
