A brief meet-and-greet breakfast reception at the Chilton County Courthouse welcomed County Administrator Sylvia Singleton to her new position on June 6.

Organized by the Chilton County Commission, the event welcomed community members and city and county officials with breakfast hors d’oeuvres and beverages.

Singleton said she is enjoying her new position, which officially started June 1.

“Oh, it’s wonderful,” she said. “People are great. We’ve got a great staff that I’m going to be working with, so I am excited to be here and just expect good things.”

Singleton is one among several new additions to the commission staff.

“We’re all so fairly new, all but one of us,” receptionist Maranda Acreman said. ”So, it’s kind of like a learning experience for all of us together.”

Singleton said she will take each day as it comes and looks forward to the work that will be accomplished with the help of the commission and office staff once the group’s transitional organization and teamwork is in full throttle.

“I think good things will happen … I can’t get over how helpful everybody has been,” she said.
