In the wake of Subtropical Depression Alberto, Alabama Power released a statement including Chilton County among the affected central Alabama counties with power outages.

“Crews continue to work as safely and quickly as possible to restore service to remaining customers,” Mike Keith of Alabama Power said in a press release.

Chilton County has approximately 630 of the 5,360 central Alabama customer power outages, as of 10 a.m. on May 29, according to Alabama Power.

Montgomery comes in on top for central Alabama with 1,720 customers currently out of service, and Wetumpka at the bottom with 100 power outages.

Statewide, there are 20,000 outages at this time.

“Important safety reminder: Please stay away from downed power lines,” the release states. “Always assume the line is alive, and do not attempt to remove tree limbs or any other object from a downed line.”
