Gary Lane Ross of Helena, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 13, 2018, after many years with Vascular Dementia. Gary was born on June 28, 1943, in Thorsby, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Bedford Ross, Jr. and Helen Irene Lowery Ross of Thorsby, Alabama; grandparents, Frank Bedford Ross, Sr. and Winnie Lee Eaton Ross of Webster City, Iowa and Leonard Homer Lowery and Emma Belle Pate Lowery, of Thorsby, Alabama.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Minor Ross; son, Gregory Lane (Keri) Ross of Alabaster, Alabama; daughter, Karen Ross (Derrick) Miller of Helena, Alabama; grandsons, Garrett Lane Ross and Patrick Gregory Ross of Alabaster, Alabama.; Tyler Andrew Sumner and Ryan Gregory Sumner of Helena, Alabama; Logan Andrew Miller of Helena, Alabama; and granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Miller of Helena, Alabama. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Dorothy Minor (Roy) Smith of Hot Springs, Arizona, as well as nieces and nephews.
In 1973 he began a wonderful career as a State Farm Insurance Agent in Hoover. Gary loved helping people solve their insurance needs. During his career he earned various awards that included Millionaire Travel, National Convention, Legion of Honor, Bronze Tablet and Silver Scroll awards. His most cherished honor was “The Golden Triangle.” He retired after 36 years in December of 2008.
He loved his family, Auburn football and traveling in his motor home. He loved to watch his grandsons play sports. He served in the Alabama National Guard for 9 years.
Friends will be received from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Southern Heritage in Pelham, Alabama, on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, with the service following. A private graveside will be held.
