An opportunity to get an up-close view of large vehicles used by local industries is coming to Clanton on May 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Corner Park (the corner of Sixth Street and Second Avenue).

This Touch-a-Truck event will also include an opportunity to get inside some of the vehicles.

Trucks present will be from Clanton Fire Department, Thompson Tractor, Alabama Power, Clanton Police Department, Chilton Contractors and the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Organizer Trae Caton said the event is free.

“It is just something to bring the community out and enjoy town,” Caton said.

Representatives from each organization will also be in attendance to talk about the trucks.

“I remember being a child and being interested in seeing all this heavy equipment,” Caton said. “Now, I work with Alabama Power, and I get to see this stuff every day. I know the joy that it brings to children, and I just like seeing that in their eyes.”
