Mutual Savings Credit Union hosted a community appreciation day April 20 at its Clanton location.

MSCU senior marketing specialist Sarah Korta put the event together.

“I have been here for about two years,” she said. “I manage the website and our social media. I coordinate events like this and our promotional items. I am the hands-on person for the credit union.”

Visitors were treated to free food, chances to win prizes and were able to check out RVs, vehicles and boats from local vendors.

“We have Yellowhammer RV, Stokes Automotive, who we do a lot of car loans through, Blue Water Marine — because we also finance boats — and we also have McKinnon Toyota and Nissan here (today),” Korta said.

“It wasn’t too difficult to put together. It was really a team effort. We worked together really closely with our branch manager and our system branch manager. They were instrumental in communicating with these groups.”

Korta worked a table where people had a chance to spin a wheel and win a prize, which included lunch boxes, tote bags and magnetic chip clips.

Radio station 102.5 The Bull was also on hand with chances to win prizes and to hand out free pizza to visitors.

Korta said MSCU put on the event to show its appreciation for its customers, much as the name would suggest.

“We love our Clanton members,” she said. “We have a huge membership base here. We have a lot of businesses that we work with. We love the Clanton community, and we wanted to celebrate them and treat them with prizes and snacks. 102.5 The Bull also has a big membership base in Clanton.”

According to Korta, MSCU puts on similar events in different areas around the state throughout the year.

“We do this pretty much every year,” she said. “We just had one in Alex City for our branch there. We also have a Selma event next month. We try to do one or two every year. It makes me feel really good. It’s a beautiful day, and that really helps. I think the membership base here comes out and supports each other. That really helps.”
