The candidates for Chilton County Schools superintendent, Tommy Glasscock and Jason Griffin, will participate in a Town Hall meeting in the Chilton County High School auditorium on May 1 at 6 p.m.

“We just thought this was very important to give people a chance to hear from both candidates for superintendent,” Kimberly Williams, president of the CCHS PTO, which is hosting the event, said.

Williams said the town hall will serve as an opportunity to hear from the candidates and gain information before making a vote. Chris Speaks will serve as moderator.

The event is open to all Chilton County voters.

“We really are doing this as a community outreach,” Williams said.

Those interested in submitting a question are asked to email it to ptocchs@gmail.com by April 24.

Williams said questions need to be something that both candidates would be able to answer.

All Board of Education candidates have been invited to have a booth in the auditorium lobby starting at 5:30 p.m., but will not be participating in the Town Hall portion of the event. There is no need to notify the PTO of participation; candidates can simply show up. Candidates will need to bring their own table and supplies. For more information, email ptocchs@gmail.com.

The Town Hall will begin at 6 p.m. with each candidate making general statements about what they would do if elected school superintendent. Then, Speaks will ask a question and give each candidate a set amount of time to answer. After all of the questions have been asked, the candidates will be given a chance to make closing remarks.
