Chilton County Master Gardeners are raising funds to continue their service projects in the community.
The group will hold a garage and plant sale at the Chilton County Extension Office parking lot on April 21 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Fundraising committee chairman Lee Walters said the fundraiser is a variation on the plant sales the organization has held in the past.
Items in addition to plants will include: a variety of clothing, ceramic pots, tufa planters, woodworking tools, kitchen items and other household items. Walters said there will be a wide selection of items available.
Walter said members are bringing different plants to sell. He will be selling oak leaf hydrangeas.
Ongoing projects for the Master Gardeners include the garden beds at the Chilton County Extension Office and the demonstration garden at the Chilton Research and Extension Center. “All the funds for doing this come from donations or (member) dues,” Walters said.
Walters said the group has also been approached about putting in garden beds around a local nursing home and at the Chilton County Humane society. The Master Gardeners did a garden bed for Clanton Intermediate in the past.
“There is just always something we are involved in,” Walters said.
Master Gardeners is a program of the Chilton County Extension Office. Members complete a multi-month course and commit to a number of service hours.
