Musician Buddy Causey is coming to Clanton to share his story and music at Clanton First United Methodist Church on April 16, during Celebrate Recovery.

The program will commence at 5:30 p.m. and conclude around 8:30 p.m. Dinner will be provided.

Causey’s style, according to Ashley Holt of Celebrate Recovery, is “kind of bluesy, rock-n-roll.”

According to Causey’s biography, his musical career initiated in Muscle Shoals when he was 19 years old. He had record deals with United Artists Records, Capitol Records, Roulette Records and Warner Bros. Records.

A rare stroke in December 2007 impaired Causey’s vision, speech and mobility. A divorce ensued, and then Causey lost everything he had, according to buddycausey.com.

When his doctor informed him that he would never sing again, Causey made a deal with God: Restore his voice, and he would sing for God’s glory and purpose.

The deal was struck, and Causey now spends his days touring his music and sharing his story with various churches and Celebrate Recovery meetings.

During the free program at Clanton FUMC, Causey will lead worship and share his story during the testimony portion of the event.

All are welcome to attend.

“It is a program for people that are struggling with hurts, habits and hang-ups,” Holt said of Celebrate Recovery, “and I don’t think there’s one person on this earth that doesn’t have some type of hurt — And just anybody in the community would benefit from the program and from Buddy Causey.”

A love offering will be collected at the close of the event.

Clanton First United Methodist Church is located at 207 Eighth St. N.
