For the first time, Habitat for Humanity of Autauga and Chilton Counties is hosting a Hogs for Habitat motorcycle fun ride fundraiser on April 14, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

“What we’re going to do is we’re combining the two counties,” Executive Director Lisa Green said. “So, Chilton County is going to start from the Walmart in Clanton, and Autauga County will start at the Walmart in Millbrook.”

“Kickstands are up at 10 a.m.,” Green said. “They’ll meet at the Verbena Central Alabama Electric Cooperative.”

Lunch will be provided at noon, at which point fees will be collected.

“We’re going to have Boston butt and some of those fixings to go along with it,” Green said.

There will also be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing, Green said.

Proceeds from each county will benefit Habitat for Humanity’s work in their respective counties.

Registration is $20 per bike and $5 per extra passenger. Participants who wish to pre-register can do so by calling the Habitat for Humanity office at (334) 365-4132.

Participants must have personal insurance coverage for their bikes.

Green said the fundraiser has a single aim.

“The main goal is to help provide a home for a low-income family in need of safe, decent and affordable housing,” she said.

The sooner proper funds can be raised, the sooner Chilton and Autauga families can have new, quality homes.
