The third annual Easter Classic Bass Tournament benefitting En Fuego Ministries is taking registrations for its March 31 competition at Higgins Ferry Park on Lake Mitchell.

En Fuego is a large, free Christian music festival held each fall in Verbena, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to Chilton County for an all-day worship experience.

The fishing tournament will commence at “safe daylight” and conclude around 2 p.m.

The entry fee is $110 per boat. Participants can register by mailing entry forms and checks payable to En Fuego Ministries to 603 Fourth Ave. N., Clanton, AL 35045.

Registration forms can be located online at EnFuegoInfo.com under the Forms tab or picked up from Giles Cooling and Heating in Clanton

Since boats will tie off one at a time, Giles said pre-registration may be preferable for interested participants.

“We had 76 boats at the tournament last year,” tournament director Johnny Giles said, anticipating a large turnout this year as well.

The pre-registration deadline is 4:30 p.m. on March 30.

There is no additional cost for day-of registration.

Hefty prizes will be awarded to fishermen with the heaviest bass.

Prizes range from $2,500 for first place and $1,000 for second place, to $500 for the Big Bass Pot.

Door prizes will be announced throughout the day, and lunch will be provided at the weigh-in.

The tournament is sanctioned by Nitro Performance Bass Boats and Triton Gold Boats.

Tournament sponsors include Giles Cooling and Heating, Innovative Home Center, Auto Collision Repair and Painting, Clanton Kiwanis, Emergency Roadside Towing and Recovery, ALFA Insurance, Airport Marine, Suds R Us, Garry S. McAnnally LLC and Ellison Memorial Funeral Home LLC.
