Jemison First Baptist Church is hosting its annual Spring Egg-stravaganza March 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.

“Everybody’s invited,” Brother Rex Kent of Jemison First Baptist Church said.

Admission is free, and guests are encouraged to bring a basket or bag to carry their hunted Easter eggs.

The church is going all out.

“We’re going to have games for the kids to play (with prizes); there’s going to be an egg hunt,” Kent said. “We will have a hot dog lunch and Easter movie, [and] kids will be able to have their pictures taken.”

In previous years, the church held the “enlarged Easter egg hunt” at Jemison City Park, Kent said.

“We’ve made some improvements to our property, and so we feel like we’ve got room to have it here now,” Kent said. “We’ve had good turnout at City Park, so we’re hoping that we’ll have good turnout here at the church.”

The Spring Egg-stravaganza has become a church tradition of several years, Kent said.

“We wanted to give the community something fun to do,” he said. “But we also use it as an opportunity to explain the true meaning of Easter — that Easter is about the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave.”

Jemison First Baptist Church is located at 24348 U.S. Highway 31. For more information, call the church office at (205) 688-4446.
