Chilton County Schools is holding a job fair to fill certified full-time teaching positions on April 5 for the 2018-2019 school year.

Certified (or soon-to-be certified) teachers can come to the event anytime between 4 and 7 p.m. at the Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center on the Jefferson State Community College Clanton campus.

Those who will be completing certification can be considered for a position and recommended to the Board of Education for hiring pending certification.
Assistant Superintendent Adriane Dennis said the event is open to teachers in all subject areas, including classroom teachers, band, career tech and school counselors.

“It gives us an opportunity to showcase our district and to let them know what openings we have,” Dennis said. “They would get to come and meet with any of the schools in our district. All schools would be represented.”

All experience levels are encouraged to attend.

“I would encourage any level of expertise to come,” Dennis said. “We are always looking for, targeting new teachers, but well-seasoned teachers are also very important.”

Dennis said the system held a similar event in 2016. She said the time was set as an evening event this year to allow those that are student teaching to be able to attend.

Attendees should bring their resume and be ready to have an on-the-spot interview with school principals.

“It gives them exposure to all of our schools at one time and allows the principal a face-to-face meeting,” Dennis said.

While many of the positons will have already been posted online, attendees do not have to apply prior to attending the event.

If an attendee is interested in a particular position, they can apply at chilton.k12.al.us under the Human Resources tab after the event.

Dennis said she knows there will be a need for secondary education teachers for math, science, collaborative special education and English. There is also the potential for additional preschool teachers if the school system receives grants it has applied for to add the program at additional schools.

Those who are unable to attend the job fair are encouraged to visit the school system website frequently to see new positions as they are posted.

The Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center is located at Alabama Highway 145 in Clanton.
