Two Thorsby High School teachers were awarded a total of $1,125 in grants by Partners Enhancing Education in Chilton (PEECh) on Feb. 7 to fund their projects.

The PEECh grant committee is part of the Chilton Education Foundation.

PEECh board members Betty Giles and Rex Bittle distributed the checks and congratulated the recipients.

Christina Cochran, counselor of grades K-6, and fourth grade teacher Joy Headley were surprised with the presentation of their checks.

Cochran’s “Growth Mindset” project was awarded $125, and Headley’s “Virtual Manipulatives in the Classroom” project was awarded $1,000.

‘The Chilton Education Foundation is always looking for ways to support the schools, but the support that we give is when they apply for it,” Bittle said. “So, we’re really encouraging people to apply for these grants. Not everything gets awarded that gets applied for, but doing it every year and finding projects and ways to spend it — we’re wanting to support that.”

Donations to PEECh or to Chilton Education Foundation can be mailed to P.O. Box 225, Clanton, AL 35046.
