Battle of Red Devils goes Maplesville’s way

The three-point shot treated the Maplesville Red Devils well as their varsity boys beat Verbena 76-34 on Jan. 22.

Jackson Abbott and his teammate Daryl Odom both made two three-point shots apiece as Maplesville jumped to a 22-15 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Abbott hit two more three-pointers in the second quarter as Maplesville took a 36-19 lead into halftime.

The third quarter was an offensive explosion for Maplesville.

Odom started the third quarter off with a three and Brent Schoener dialed up a successful three of his own on the very next possession.

Maplesville outscored Verbena 30-8 in the third quarter with seven points coming from Abbott.

Maplesville added 10 points in the fourth quarter with seven coming from Ryan Morrow.

Verbena’s Dawson Rouhrbough finished with 13 points.

Abbott led Maplesville with 19 points.
