Chilton County Schools will remain closed on Jan. 18.

Tommy Glasscock, Chilton County Schools superintendent, said the decision was made based on Gov. Kay Ivey extending the state of emergency until noon on Jan. 18.

Several surrounding counties are also closing on Jan. 18, Glasscock said.

Temperatures are expected to warm to above freezing after noon on Jan. 18, and school will likely be in session on Jan.19
