The Chilton County Commission met for the first time in 2018 on Jan. 9.

Several departments shifted their current employee positions, which resulted in both hires and openings.

Bobby Martin is looking to hire a new clerk in the probate office and will advertise the full-time position for 14 days.

Sheriff John Shearon reclassified a pair of employees to a deputy employee position and vacant transportation position, as well as promoted correction officer Michael Madrid from part-time to full-time status, while Tyler Hayes replaced Madrid in the part-time role.

The Chilton County Transit Department also informed the commission that it is to hire two part-time drivers to fill a pair of vacancies.

Terry Hinton agreed to accept the position of HR Director with the commission office, after Ginger Bell decided to stay with her current employer.

One of the final staff changes during the meeting was the announcement and approval of Emily McKinney’s resignation from the Tax Collector’s office.
