Maplesville varsity boys basketball scored eight points within the first minute of the game in their 71-26 victory over Isabella on Jan. 9.

That quick scoring ignited an overwhelming offensive performance from Maplesville as they jumped out to a 28-10 lead in the first quarter.

The offensive firepower for the Red Devils came from the free throw line or inside the three-point line as Maplesville took a 40-13 lead into halftime without making a single three point shot.

Isabella had no answer for the Red Devils shooting throughout the game, as all 10 players on the Maplesville roster had at least four points.

“We got a chance to get a lot of playing time for our role players and that’s always a good thing,” said Maplesville coach Stacy McGehee.

The Mustangs leading scorer Isaac Martin had eight points.

The Red Devils had six players reach or pass eight points with Nathaniel Watson leading the way with 11.
