The girls matchup between the Isabella Mustangs and the Maplesville Red Devils was completely dominated by the Mustangs, as they won 44-24 on Jan. 9.

The offense from Isabella scored the opening two points and never relinquished the lead.

Isabella guard Synia’ Chattman led the way with 14 points in the first half with most of her points coming from the free throw line.

The Mustangs took a 21-8 lead into halftime.

The defense played an important role for Isabella as well by forcing turnovers and getting Maplesville to take contested shots.

The second half narrative was the same. Isabella kept the defensive pressure high and the offense was able to get easy transition baskets off turnovers.

Chattman maintained her aggressive offensive play in the second half for the Mustangs as she scored 11 points in the third quarter.

Maplesville could not seem to answer any of the Isabella attacks and never cut into the deficit to keep it within competitive reach as they were outscored every quarter.

Tydasia Davis led Maplesville in scoring with 13 points.

Chattman led Isabella with 29 points.
