The Clanton City Council made quick work of its agenda on Jan. 8 with the meeting lasting only eight minutes.

The City Council approved the quarterly appropriation of $30,000 to the Clanton-Chilton Public Library and the annual funding for Workers Compensation at $131,920.

Chilton County Relay for Life’s request to hold this year’s event downtown was also approved. The walk will take place near Corner Park.

Mayor Billy Joe Driver announced that Clanton Food Mart/Lil Suzy Q is interested in applying for licensing to be a liquor package store. He said the package store would have to be separate from the existing store with a separate entrance in order to meet regulations. Driver said he thought the business had some additional work to do before it could qualify for the license.

The next meeting of the Clanton City Council will be at 5 p.m. on Jan. 22 at city hall, 505 Second Avenue North.
