Zion Ridge Church of God welcomes the public to a production of “Return to Cricket County” by Eddie McPherson, scheduled for Dec. 10, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Admission is free, and the public is welcome to attend the “comedy with a message about forgiveness,” according to Ministries Coordinator and Co-director Crystal Russell.

All actors are church members.

“There is a series of Cricket County plays, and this is the third one that we are doing,” Russell said. “We began those last Christmas, and then during the summer, we did a dinner theatre with ‘Summer in Cricket County.’”

Russell said that after two big-hit productions of the series, “it just made sense to do the follow-up play for this Christmas.”

It’s set a year later, of course, from the original play,” Russell said of this Christmas’ production. “Basically, it’s based on a group of country cousins, and their city cousins come to visit. So, they have returned to visit the country cousins once again… It’s kind of a ‘let’s see what the city cousins have up their sleeves.’”

Russell said, “I think that it will be fun for all ages. I think it will be a great time of laughter, as well a as a message that rings true that we can all learn from the need to forgive.”

Zion Ridge Church of God is located at 3258 County Road 49 in Clanton.
