The Clanton Christmas Tree Lighting has been rescheduled to Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.

The event showcases local talent and a visit from Santa himself to help light the tree at the intersection of Second Avenue North and Sixth Street North in downtown Clanton.

Santa will arrive at 5 p.m. to spend some time with the community before the official festivities begin.

“I love to see the lights and the joy on the faces of the children and on the faces of the adults,” Clanton Councilwoman Mary Mell Smith, who helps organize the event, said.

Everyone seems to enjoy the event s and it brings families together, she added.

“We have some really talented young people and children on this city,” Smith said.

Those that are performing this year include: First United Methodist Children’s Choir, Central Dance and Cheer, Impact Martial Arts, Alabama Baton and Dance, Just Twirl It Baton, New Life Community Church Children’s Church and Signature Studio of Dance.

Several of the local pageant queens will also be recognized. Roslyn Driver will be signing the National Anthem.

As in years past, Sally Pitts will serve as the events emcee.
