A structure fire on Nov. 15 left a considerable need for repairs to an Ola Street cul-de-sac home in Clanton, but both occupants at the time of the blaze were able to escape unharmed.

Chief David Driver of the Clanton Fire Department said the fire was reported around 4:32 p.m., and the CFD arrived on scene four minutes later. Thorsby Fire Department added its forces to the job, allowing the blaze to subside within about 20 minutes.

Driver said the fire was under control at 4:57 p.m.

The fire had accidentally started in the connected garage, but spread to the rest of the two-story house, Driver said.

“It was a significant damage to it,” Driver said, “and probably 80 percent, [I’m] just guessing, of the first floor had fire damage to it.”

CFD documented photos of the blaze on its Facebook page, depicting several up-close and aerial perspectives of the structure fire and the departments operating on scene.
