The City of Jemison is gearing up for its annual Christmas tree lighting festival set for Nov. 21 at Jemison City Hall.

The fun will kick off at 6 p.m. with a welcome and prayer likely by Mayor Eddie Reed, according to Event Coordinator and Librarian Tammy McGriff.

At 6:15 p.m., violinist Hannah Ellison will perform, and the Brittany Thomas Group will follow.

“And during the whole thing, Santa will be there,” McGriff said.

A live Nativity scene will be stationed in front of Jemison City Hall near the Christmas tree, according to McGriff.

The Christmas tree lighting ceremony will commence at 7 p.m. and will feature music by the Jemison First Baptist Choir directed by Jerome Key and musicians.

“We hope that everybody will come out and join us,” McGriff said.
