Children and families can enjoy Halloween fun at Trick or Treats the Streets in Downtown Clanton on Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Christina Wilkins of the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce said this will be the fourth year for the event.
A number of vendors will be on site handing out candy and DJ Hines will return this year to provide entertainment.
Wilkins said children enjoyed the DJ’s dance-offs and candy giveaways last year.
The Halloween Costume Contest, sponsored by Alabama Power Service Organization, will begin at 5 p.m. with children signing up to participate.
“Sign-ups for each group will close about five minutes prior to the time of the judging for that category,” Wilkins said.
The contest is open to children ages birth to 15.
“There will be a girl and a boy winner in each category,” Wilkins said. “Winners of age groups and overall winner will be announced at 6:30 p.m.”
Age group winners will receive a medal and there will be a prize for the overall winner.
The birth-3-year-old category will be judged at 5:30 p.m. The 4-7-year-old category will be judged at 5:45 p.m. The 8-10-year-old category will be judged at 6 p.m. The 11-15-year-old category will be judged at 6:15 p.m.
Some of the vendors this year include: Dr. Sharon Glass, We Care Daycare, Butterfly Bridge, The Little Tan Shack, Chilton/Clanton Public Library, Elite Salon and S&T Cycles.
Inflatables will be in the free Kid’s Zone provided by Jack’s Party Rental.
Wilkins said she enjoys seeing all the children and families having a good time in a safe atmosphere.
