The cooler weather of October has outdoor events thriving again in Chilton County after the nearly unbearable heat of summer that lingered through September.

Whether its fundraisers for good causes like the Chilton County Fair and Bark in the Park or the thrill of sugar for children from the endless opportunities of church Trunk or Treat and fall festivals, there are several chances to get outside and enjoy good times and good company. For those who like the spookier side of things, Chilton County also has a haunted trial.

Details for these and many other fall events are listed in detail on our Community Calendar, so keep an eye out to make sure you do not miss your fall favorites.

A Thorsby tradition, the Swedish Festival, also adds to the activities to enjoy in October. The annual Swedish Fest pageant is Oct. 7, but the festival with a Viking 5K run and car show will be on Oct. 14.

Some Chilton County Landowners will enjoy the crisp morning air on Oct. 9 as they participate in this year’s Chilton Fall Landowner Tour, hosted by the Chilton County Natural Resources Council.

The pumpkin patch in Verbena is also open again this year giving the opportunity for some fun family memories in a slightly less structured setting.

Gather a group of friends or family and pick a few events to make some fun fall memories. There is something to do just about every weekend this month.

The Clanton Advertiser will be at a number of these events chronicling the memories. If you don’t see us around, feel free to take a picture and submit it for consideration in an upcoming edition. Be warned though that cellphone photos are not always a high enough resolution to be included.

Submissions can be emailed to news@clantonadvertiser.com or through our website.
