It’s that time of year again: The leaves are falling, the colors are changing and pumpkins are rolling into marketplaces.

Fall is here, and with its arrival fall festivals are stamping calendars.

Jemison First Baptist Church is among the first to set a date for its annual, community-wide Fall Festival, scheduled for 6 p.m. on Oct. 11 at the church.

“This is a free event that we use to reach the community,” Church Secretary Kacie Rojas said.

Rojas said the event will feature carnival food, such as hot dogs, popcorn and cotton candy, and activities include a 24-foot slide and a donation-regulated dunking machine.

“There will be donations given for each toss, in order to raise money for a specific ministry, which is to be determined,” Rojas said.

There will also be jousting, a cake walk and children’s obstacle courses, Rojas said.

“Our main goal is to reach those that are in the community and to show them that we love them just as Christ loves them,” Rojas said, “and to try and bring across the fact that He does love them, He’s there for them and that they are more than welcome to join us to know more about Him, if they want to.”

Jemison First Baptist Church is located at 24348 Highway 31.
