Ovis Rhodes, Sr.

Ovis Rhodes, Sr. age 78 of Jemison passed away Thursday, Sept. 21 with his family by his side.

Ovis was a retired truck driver of over 30 years. He was generous to a fault, but most of all will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sue Ann Wagner Rhodes; daughter, Janice Fennell; son, Scottie Rhodes; parents, Bessie and Oley Rhodes; grandson, Timothy Rhodes; great granddaughter, Katelyn Wyatt; brother, Leo Rhodes; sister, Helen Walden; daughter-in-law, Gail Rhodes; sister-in-law, Billie Jo Rhodes; and brother-in-law, Roy Walden.

His survivors include his children, Ovis Rhodes, Jr. of Jemison, Polly Taylor (Ricky) of Jemison, Peggy Thrash (Tony) of Jemison, and Eva Sims (Lewis) of Boaz; brother, Jim Rhodes (Jane) of Prattville; sister, Geneva Broaddus (Charles) of Albertville; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
