Francine Evett Wood

Francine Evett Wood, age 66 of Billingsley, passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, at St. Vincent Chilton Hospital in Clanton.

She was born in Plant City, Florida on July 28, 1951; the daughter of the late Obie Moates, Jr. and the late Velma Delene Smitherman Moates.

She was a former cashier at the Clanton Winn Dixie.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Barney) Poe of Billingsley; daughter, Angela (David) Cleckler of Clanton; grandchildren, Justin Cleckler, Hannah Cleckler, Alexis Cleckler, Cody Poe, and Breanna Isbell; sister, Veleda Popwell of Thorsby; sister, Patricia Wilson of Clanton; and a brother, Obie Moates III of Thorsby.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Wood; parents, Obie Jr. and Velma Moates; and sister, Eva Keener.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. from The Church at Bethel in Thorsby with Rev. Wayne Hughes officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the New Hope Baptist Cemetery in Jemison.
