Jemison First Baptist Church is collecting funds throughout September for the Myers-Mallory State Missions Offering.

Through the State Missions Offering program, monetary donations will benefit the following ministries:

  • Alabama Woman’s Missionary Union
  • Disaster Relief (specifically through Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief)
  • Church Planting
  • Alabama Partnership Missions
  • Church Revitalization

According to the church, the Myers-Mallory State Missions Offering was named after Martha Myers and Kathleen Mallory, “spiritual giants” who dedicated their lives to the Great Commission.

The Great Commission based program took flight in January 2016, according to the church’s Facebook page.

“Funds are received throughout the year, with a special emphasis coinciding with the Week of Prayer for State Missions held each September,” the post reads. “The offering is meant to complement vital giving through the Cooperative Program, and helps support these Great Commission Ministries.”

Kacie Rojas, secretary at Jemison First Baptist Church, said the offering is collected every year with both church and state goals in mind.

“Our church goal is $1,000, and the state goal is $1 million,” she said.

Rojas said checks to the church with the memo “Myers-Mallory” can be mailed directly to the church address at P.O. Box 760, Jemison, AL 35085.

“They can also donate online at myers-mallory.org or through the Chilton Baptist Association,” she said.

Rojas said that while Hurricane Harvey relief will receive funds from the offering, direct donations to disaster relief through Southern Baptist disaster relief ministries near affected areas can be made online at sbdr.org/texas/.
