Chilton County investigators arrested 53-year-old Tony Jeffery Simon on July 20 for allegedly stabbing his wife to death at their residence near Montevallo.

Responding to a disturbance report received around 9:15 p.m., deputies and Jemison police discovered his wife, Luvenia Washington Simon, suffering from an apparent stab wound in her front yard.

“The victim was treated by EMS and pronounced dead on the scene,” a Chilton County Sheriff’s Office press release stated.

Luvenia Simon was 54 years old.

“At this point, it appears that a domestic dispute occurred between husband and wife, and resulted in Mrs. Simon’s death,” the press release read.

Tony Simon is being held at the Chilton County jail on a $150,000 bond.

“Domestic violence calls continue to be among the most dangerous and most frequent calls our deputies respond to,” Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon said. “It’s important to break that cycle of violence before it’s too late. Please keep our deputies and this family in your prayers. We would also like to thank the Jemison Police Department for their assistance.”

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office said it expects no further charges or suspects to emerge in the case.
