My Time Christian Bookstore opened its location at 217 6th St. in Clanton in January of 2016 and has quickly become a go-to source for religious merchandise.

Sylvia Robinson decided to open a second location in Clanton after operating a single location in Monroeville for eight years.

“They [community] seems to be so happy that we are here,” Robinson said. “We have something for everybody.”

The store specializes in selling scripture based products with the objective of spreading Christian values and offering inspirational messages to those in need.

Items sold include church supplies, bibles, books, children’s toys, baby gifts, music and greeting cards.

Even the types of candy sold, has scripture printed on its wrappers.

“The gospel goes forth in so many ways,” Robinson said.

A large range of bibles are in stock with certain ones that are designated for adults or children as well as occupations, such as police officer, firefighter or medical profession.

Bibles also come in several translations other than English.

An another option that My Time Christian Bookstore provides is the ability for bibles to be complimentary imprinted at the location after purchase.

According to Robinson, she orders books and bibles about three times a week.

The bookstore is only open three days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

One of the most popular items sold is the bookstore’s music selection.

“This is a musical area,” Robinson said. “We already have customers coming from Montgomery, Alabaster and Calera. We’re serving at least a 50-mile radius.”

According to Robinson, a couple from Ireland even stopped in at the store the other day.

“This [Clanton] is home for my husband and I both, so to have the opportunity to share the gospel here is even greater,” Robinson said.
