Father-son duo Andra Howard Sr. and Andra Howard Jr. were arrested July 8 on County Road 754 with multiple drug charges, the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office said.

Fifty-five-year-old Howard Sr. and 18-year-old Howard Jr. were charged with possession (of illegal substances) with the intent to distribute, second-degree possession of marijuana, chemical endangerment of a child and drug paraphernalia.

According to a press release from the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy and a narcotic unit halted the suspects’ vehicle with a traffic stop at the intersection of County Roads 81 and 754.

Howard Sr., who was driving the vehicle, held first-degree felony warrants through Chilton County for receiving stolen property.

“Deputies knew he had the outstanding warrant and stopped him for that,” Assistant Chief Deputy Shane Mayfield said.

“Upon approaching the vehicle, officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” the press release stated.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered stashes of heroin, marijuana, mushrooms, drug paraphernalia and a clear bottle containing adrenalin. Some illegal substances were found on Howard Jr.’s person.

A small child was also inside the vehicle.
