Arrest made in burglary spree

A burglary spree has come to an end with the arrest of Tyler Matthew Maddox.

Maddox, a 24 -year-old Chilton County resident, was arrested by the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office on July 4 on multiple counts of burglary and theft by the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office and Clanton Police Department.

“The Sheriff’s Office has obtained warrants on him for two counts of theft of property first degree, three counts of burglary third degree, one count of unlawful breaking/entering a motor vehicle, one count theft of property second degree and one count of theft of property fourth degree,” Shane Mayfield, Sheriff’s’ Office assistant chief deputy, said.

CPD Detective Robert Bland said Maddox will be charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree, one count of burglary in the first degree, theft charges in the first, second and fourth degrees and criminal mischief in the second degree.

Maddox hit three locations on Shade Tree Drive in Clanton, including the Chilton County Humane Society and C & S Canopy.

Tools, syringes, work gloves and digital cameras were stolen from the Humane Society.

“The humane society has really good video and they were able to take still shots and identify him,” CPD Detective David Kline said.

A 22 long rifle was taken from a residency and a vehicle was taken from C & S Canopy.

All of these items have been recovered. However, there are several “firearms, power tools and other items are still unrecovered,” Mayfield said.
