The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office arrested Travis Michael Williams on charges of Drug Trafficking and Unlawful Possession of Paraphernalia June 29 at Days Inn Clanton.

“This investigation started as a basic arrest warrant, but led into a larger investigation,” the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office revealed in a press release July 4.

Narcotics investigators and patrol deputies had learned of Williams’ stay at the motel.

After an active warrant for Williams’ arrest and his presence in his rented room were verified, Days Inn management made entry to Williams’ room to speak with him.

He was taken into custody soon after.

Investigators glimpsed a stash of suspected methamphetamine in Williams’ room at the time of arrest. Granted a search warrant later, investigators entered the room and conducted a presumptive field test on the suspected illegal substance.

Their suspicions were confirmed.

Discovered in Williams’ room were 130 grams of methamphetamine, estimated by investigators to be worth a street value of $13,000, and drug paraphernalia.

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office commended Days Inn Clanton for its management’s full support and cooperation during the investigation and arrest of Williams.

“They assisted above and beyond a normal capacity,” the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office relayed in their press release.

“This could have happened at any hotel, business, or private location,” the press release read. “Fortunately, it happened at a location with personnel willing to stand up for their local community. For that, we say ‘Thank You, Days Inn.’”
