Budding, young artists in Chilton County have the opportunity to increase their skills this summer thanks to the Chilton County Arts Council’s Art Stars Camp.

The camp, designed for ages 7 to 15, will be offered in two sessions, which will build on each other. The first session will be offered July 17 and 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. each day with the second session being offered July 24 and 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. Each session will meet at the Arts Council building at 703 Second Avenue North in Clanton.

This will be the fourth year the camp is offered.

Sue Anne Hoyt of the Chilton County Arts Council said the camp is a special time for herself and co-teacher Maria Hoser.

“Both of us like teaching children,” Hoyt said.

She said the Art Camp students are always excited about learning the new techniques and completing a project.

This year will focus on painting and screen printing. Hoyt said the first session will be an introduction to the process, while the second session will use the techniques to create a T-shirt.

“It’s helpful if they can come to both sessions, but if they can only come to one that’s fine. We will work with them,” Hoyt said.

Cost for the camp is $30 per session. The registration deadline is July 14.
